Door County is filled with so many fun activities for people from all walks of life. In fact, you would be hard pressed to be bored on the peninsula. Many people like to participate in some outdoor activities and enjoy the beautiful views during the day and relax a bit more during the evening. DCAC offers many different options for outdoor activities including kayaking, zip lining and paddle boarding. These are offered at numerous locations so you are sure to find a spot close to you! As for relaxing at night, Northern Sky Theater’s summer season has just kicked off and runs through August 25th. With that being said, there is plenty of time to make your way there for one of their three performances. The theater is located under the stars in Peninsula State Park on an outdoor stage constructed of pine.
The three shows that are being presented this summer are Boxcar, Dairy Heirs, and Lumberjacks in Love. Boxcar is a story about a boy that befriends two hobos in the 1930s and has showings at the theater on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Dairy Heirs is a “Moo-sical” that is described by the cast as “Like a good Wisconsin dairy breakfast: home grown, hearty, plenty sweet, with a side of tongue in cheek.”. Dairy Heirs is showing at the theater on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Last but not least Lumberjacks in Love is about four lumberjacks that live in Northern Wisconsin that have their world flipped upside down by a mail order bride, and it is said to be accompanied by good laughs and good music. Lumberjacks in Love has its showing on Thursdays at 6pm this summer season.
Whether you’re a long time Door County native or just visiting for a weekend, make sure to stop by for some kayaking, zipping, music and plenty of laughs with family or friends.
