Level 2 Ropes Course Instructor, Level 4 ACA Coastal Sea Kayaking Instructor, Certified Zip Line Instructor-Guide, ABEE Inc. Instructor Trainer, Nationally Registered EMT, Northeast Wisconsin Technical College Adjunct Faculty Instructor, and Keynote Speaker. Tim earned his Master of Science in Education.

Abbey Tierney

Operations Manager

Abbey graduated from Central Michigan University with a BAA in Outdoor and Environmental Education and minor in Youth Studies.  She comes to us with an ample amount of trail guiding experience and current Wilderness First Responder certification. Outside of work you can find her enjoying being on the water, spending time with family/friends, and traveling!

Jon Benson

Jon Benson

Operations Coordinator

Jon graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with a bachelor’s in Sociology. He is an experienced whitewater rafting/kayaking guide.  When not at work, you can usually find Jon on the water fishing.

Fun Fact: “I recently completed a trip paddling down the Mississippi River from the headwaters to the Gulf of Mexico!”

Alanna is a UW-Eau Claire 2021 graduate with a degree in communications and French. She is looking forward to graduate school for French this coming fall. She enjoys staying active and is always willing to try something new. When she has down time, she enjoys spending time in the kitchen making homemade food.

Amy is a Level 1 Ropes Course Facilitator, Certified Zip Line Instructor-Guide, and has a BA in Music Education. September to June, she teaches Music and Choral at Chilton Public School District.

Ben will be a junior at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, MI, studying Environmental Science and Recreational Leadership. He grew up on an orchard in southern Door County and loves rock climbing and being active in the great outdoors. When not studying he’s probably, playing basketball, longboarding, or listening to Juice WRLD and contemplating how he was so good at freestyling.

Cora just finished her sophomore year at the University of Minnesota Duluth. She is majoring in Exercise Science with a minor in Special Education. Her goal is to go on and get her masters in Occupational Therapy. Cora loves to stay active, going to the gym and the pool. When she’s not at home you can find her on an adventure hiking or by the water.

Emma Kerkman

Zip Line Guide, Kayak Guide & Rentals Associate

Emma is a rising freshman at Hamilton College in Clinton, NY, and a planned double major in English: Creative Writing and Special Education. She loves backpacking, rock climbing, snowboarding, photography, writing and listening to music, international travel, racing mountain bikes, and studying ancient history. Some of her favorite adventures include rock climbing in Railay, Thailand, doing conservation work in Bilsa, Ecuador, and working with the American Farm School in Thessaloniki, Greece. More often than not, she can be found boating around Lake Michigan, hanging out on the ski hill with her friends, or writing in her garden.

After finishing her studies at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater, Faith is excited to start this new chapter of her life with the Door County Adventure Center! Having studied public relations and working as a marketing assistant prior to this, she’s excited to be taking on the role as the marketing intern. This will be the first time she’s ever been to Door County and lucky for her she gets to spend the entire summer here.

Garrett is a graduate of UW Eau-Claire with a degree in Marketing.  He was a Marketing Intern for us his first season and now he returns to do some behind-the-scenes marketing projects for us!

Kevin Boylan

Zip Line Guide, Kayak Guide & Rentals Associate

Kevin graduated from Northern Michigan University with a major in Outdoor Recreation Leadership and Management and a minor in Biology. In the past few years he’s worked at a youth summer camp in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and as an interpretive guide in Alaska.  The outdoors, travel, and music are his top passions and he’s always excited to experience something new.

Lauren DeJong

Lauren DeJong

Zip Line Guide, Kayak Guide & Rentals Associate

Lauren is a freshman Marine Science Major at Coastal Carolina University. She’s a lifelong Wisconsinite and an avid boater. If you are looking for her, she’ll probably be at the beach, dancing, or hiking. Lauren just completed her open water scuba certification, so her next adventure will be using that. She’s traveled to 8 countries, but her most memorable travel was to Costa Rica for a foreign exchange. Lauren is very excited to have a great summer working here at Door County Adventure Center!

Mckenna is currently a junior at UW Oshkosh majoring in Marketing with an emphasis in Digital Marketing. She enjoys traveling and being outdoors. Her favorite trips included visiting national parks like Yellowstone and the Great Smoky Mountains. She also enjoys taking pictures, Door County sunsets, and ice cream.

Fun fact: “I am a very accident prone person. I’ve been clotheslined while kneeboarding, had stitches from a sippy cup being thrown at my face, and broke my arm from being pushed off a chair.”

Ryan Moore

I’m a rising junior at Michigan State University studying Sustainable Parks, Recreation, and Tourism as well as English. In my free time I love doing anything outdoors – running, hiking, climbing, snowboarding, you name it. This will be my first season as a kayak and zip line guide, and I couldn’t be more excited for it!

Taylor is currently a junior at the University of Wisconsin Stout, majoring in Graphic Communications. She grew up in Abbotsford, Wisconsin, where her parents still reside. Some of her absolute favorite things are sports, hunting, being at the lake, spending time with family and friends, dogs, and country music!

Fun fact: “I got my first deer ever when I was eleven years old and it was a 10 point buck! It’s mounted in my living room at home.”

Tommy is currently attending Gogebic College in Michigan studying Ski Area Management. This winter Tommy will be grooming the race and park slopes in Vail, Colorado for the US Ski and Snowboard team!
