When you think of Wisconsin, beaches may not be the first thing that come to the mind of many, however, Door County has some of the most beautiful!

Let’s go over some of the best ones that the peninsula has to offer:

Sister Bay Beach

The beach in the heart of Sister Bay is great for families and fun! It offers a swim pier, swim raft, playground, performance pavilion, picnic tables, and kayak launch to keep everyone entertained. You will see many children and adults alike jumping off of the pier even in the early summer months, while others will enjoy the breathtaking sunsets that spans across the horizon. If you are looking for something else to do after enjoying the beach, go to Rowleys Bay Resort for a zipline tour or kayak rental!

Egg Harbor Beach

This gem of a spot sits in one of the southern towns on the peninsula in the town of Egg Harbor. Over the years, the beach that takes up 500 feet along the water of Green Bay has been improved and maintained to provide a place to build sand castles, swim in the water, play on the park, and relax in the sun. However, if your time of relaxation has come to an end and you are looking for something fun to do, the Door County Adventure Center offers kayak and stand-up paddleboard rentals right on the sandy beach!

Schoolhouse Beach

If you make your way to Washington Island for a day trip, Schoolhouse Beach is a great destination to stop at! According to Destination Door County,  it is one of five beaches in the world like it and is a part of the Niagara Escarpment. This destination provides clear views of both the horizon and the crystal-like water, with smooth rocks that line the shore. Although the sound of rocks on a beach may sound unpleasant, many describe it as a massage for their feet with the flat limestone surrounding the area.

Whitefish Dunes Beach

One of the most popular and visited beaches for a reason, the Whitefish Dunes State Park provides a shore with a mile of a sandy beach, two miles of rocky shore, and the highest sand dunes in Wisconsin. In addition to swimming, visitors to the park can enjoy the trails, boardwalk, nature center and picnic areas and of course…the Door County Adventure Center Caves and Dunes Tour that leaves right from the beach of the state park!
